Ban open grazing in the South East within 14 days - Nnamdi Kanu tells governors

 


Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to South-East Governors to ban all forms of open grazing in the region in compliance with the 1969 statutory law of Nigeria.

 

Sales Rep jailed for 18-months for Internet Fraud in Ekiti

 


Justice Babs Kwuemi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, convicted and sentenced one Adelanke Adesola Abiodun (a.k.a. Richard Lopez/ Walker Fabian Gregory) to 18-months imprisonment for impersonation.

 

The 25-year-old who claimed to be an Accounting graduate from Ekiti State University was a sales representative with a private company when he was arrested by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Crime Commission, EFCC, for internet fraud, the agency said in a statement. 

 

He pleaded guilty to one count amended charge preferred against him and convicted and sentenced to 18-months imprisonment.

 

Justice Kwuemi, the presiding judge also gave a consequential order that he restitutes to his victim, one Frida Thorsdottir the sum of $1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred United States of American Dollars), through the EFCC.

 

He is also to forfeit one iPad and Nokia Torch to the Federal Government of Nigeria, EFCC said.

Burglar breaks into bar, gets drunk and falls asleep before being found by owner

 


A burglar broke into a pub, drank some of the supplies there and went on a wrecking spree before falling asleep.

 

30-year-old Marius Petrikas, also know as Algis Likso, was found hours later passed out on a sofa in the bar by the owner after he heard snoring.

15 Corps members contract COVID19 in Niger state

 

Fifteen members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Niger state have tested positive for COVID19.

1861 new cases of COVID19 recorded in Nigeria

 


1,861 new cases of COVID19 were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, January 27.

 

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, Lagos recorded 773 while the FCT recorded 285.

 

Other states with fresh cases include Oyo-138, Rivers-111, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-83, Kaduna-59, Enugu-57, Imo-57, Edo-43, Kano-27, Kwara-20, Ebonyi-19, Abia-17, Ogun-12, Osun-12, Katsina-8, Bayelsa-6, Bauchi-5, Delta-5, Borno-4, Jigawa-4 and Zamfara-1.

 

Nigeria now has 126, 160 confirmed cases of the disease. 100, 365 patients have been successfully treated and discharged. Sadly, 1,544 deaths have been recorded.
